Exsercise 6 : Simple Present and Present Progressive

Choose either the simple present or present progressive in the following sentences.

1.      Something smells (smell) very good.

2.      We are eating (eat) dinner at seven o’clock tonight.

3.      He practices  (practice) the piano every day.

4.      They are driving (drive) to school tommorow.

5.      I  believe (believe)  you.

6.      Maria has (have) a cold.

7.      Jorge is swimming (swim) right now.

8.      John hates (hate) smoke.

9.      Jill always gets (get) up at 6.00 A.M.

10.  Jerry is mowing (mow) the lawn now.

 

Exercise 7: Simple Past Tense and Past Progressive

Use either the simple past tenseor past progressive in the following sentences as appropriate.

1.      Gene was eating (eat)  dinner when his friend called.

2.      While Maria was cleaning the apartment, her husband slept(sleep).

3.      At there o’clock this morning, Eleanor was studying (study).

4.      When mark arrived, the Johnsons was having (have) dinner, but they stopped in order to talk him.

5.      John went (go) to france last year.

6.      When the teacher entered (enter) the room, the students were talking.

7.      While Joan was writing the report, Henry looked (looks) for more information.

8.      We saw (see) this movie last night.

9.      At one time, Mr Roberts was owning (own)  this building.

10.  Jose was writing (write) a letter to his family when his pencil broke (break).

 

Exercise 8 : Present Perfect and Simple Past 

Use either the present perfect or the simple past in the following sentences.

1. John has written his report last night

2. Bob has seen this movie before.

3. Jorge has already read the newspaper.

4. Mr. Johnson has worked in the same place for thirty-five years, and he is not planning to retire yet.

5. We haven’t begun to study for the test yet.

6. George has went to the store at ten o’clock this morning.

7. Joan has traveled around the world.

8. Betty has written a letter last night.

9. Guillermo has called his employer yesterday.

10. We haven’t seen this movie yet.

Me as a College Student

My name is Intania Cahya Pramesty, you guys can call me Intania and I'm 19 years old. I was a first year student at Gunadarma University. Here, I would like to share my experience of being a student. I was excited when entering the world of lectures. Considering college life is very different from high school life. Ranging from hours of study, all kinds of friends who would you meet, until the clothes you wore while going to school. It took a little longer for me to be able to adjust to college life that I thought hard. Fortunately, I get a class with a fun friend. They made ​​me feel comfortable while studying in class. Plus, they accepted me as a friend. Even so, their differences of opinion can make our class divided. But, hey! We are a college student now, we all can solve problems that occur with ease. It's just an easy thing actually.

The days passed. I run my life as usual. Go to school every day, doing all the tasks, and of course, go hangout with all my friends. Sometimes, I feel lazy when studying for many tasks. And prefer to hang out with friends . Even so, they always remind me to learn everyday. Until it was time, for the final exams. Although I mostly spend to go hangout than learning, I still focus on getting high marks in every exam. Aaand... in the end, I managed to get a high score. Very high. And I'm very proud and very happy with my accomplishments. Now I have to do is just maintain or even increase its value. Just... wish me luck!:)
